Well, the latest version is 9.9.0 and it seems to be fine with Linux Ubuntu 18.04, 19.04 and Mint 19.01 Cinnamon (as explained on Myriad's blog) However, these sound issues may have several origins. I assume that the sound system is working on your machine (with other software, for example). Try Configuration>Hardware configuration. What can you read in the "digital output" field ? Do you get any sound when clicking the "test" button ? Try the other devices of the list.

Too bad ! Have you tried another sound-using software (e.g. Audacity) to make sure the sound system is OK ?

Hello everyone, I've got the same issue on Linux (Mint). None of the hardware config possibilities works. When I run the command that I use with Frescobaldi Lilypond and when I try the different hardware config, I get these error messages : - sysdefault:CARD=Intel - ERR -16 snd_pcm_open Device or resource busy
- Can't initialise digital output (sysdefault:CARD=Intel - ERR -16 snd_pcm_open Device or resource busy) please check your hardware setup
On the other hand, Musescore output MIDI is ok out of the box. Is there anyone able to make HA sound with linux ? Thanks a lot !

I don't know if this will help, but here's what I've tried out ! (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 64 bits HA 32-bits licence for Windows, but no Linux licence) 1- I run HA through WINE and it does work fine, even with Virtual Singer or MyrSynth instruments. The hardware configuration shows "Wine Sound mapper" for digital output. Unfortunately, the MIDI output doesn't generate any sound when I launch the test (by the way, it is directed to WINE midi mapper) 2- I run the same HA version in a virtual box with Windows XP. All the functions (digital output and MIDI out) work fine. 3- I run a test version of HA 64 bits for Linux. When I test the digital ouput (pointing to jack, pulse, oss or default) it does work but HA sends an error message saying it is impossible to initialize that sound output. Same message when I play a score. So, clearly there is some sort of problem in that area. I've never installed timidity but I'm going to give it a try. If I can manage to link it with HA, I'll post something... Let's keep our fingers crossed !

Hello, Here's something I tried. It may work for you. Here are the steps that I followed using a 64 Bit Evaluation Copy of Linux Harmony Assistant on Linux Lite: I ran FluidSynth / Qsynth I set up Qsynth with some free Soundfonts I left Qsynth open I ran HA and went to Configuration> Hardware Configuration >Midi output 1 >select Fluid Synth >Midi output 2 >select Fluid Synth I closed Hardware Configuration I opened Hardware Configuration I tested for sound and I had it. I opened a Piano score I went to Instruments > Relate output device > Related instruments listed on the left to Midi 1 or Midi 2 I have sound. I was able to play the music. Hope that helps! Regards, dheo
