Candidate sounds for Gold Database - Demo page

Hi,
I uploaded a demo page that enables to hear the first instruments we received from active users. It features a short pattern (MP3 format), played using the new instrument, as well as using the current sound provided in the Super-Extended database for comparison.

I listened to the demos and was amazed at the difference. If all the sounds in the Gold Database are that good, it should be a hit. The most notable difference is in the attack. Quite authentic.

Good!! It sound real. I love the sounds that are not "perfect". The blow sound, keys clapping, and some unpitch variation make some samples sound very "live".

Excellent! ...A vast improvement on the current sound database.
I would be very interested to know what type of microphone was used to record the original sample notes, ie. condenser, crystal, ribbon and were the samples made following the tutorial.

Excellent sound! The difference is remarkable.
Note to other users: If your browser does not directly play the sound from the demo page, try "save target as" to download the file to your computer. Then play it from the local file. I don't know why, but that's what I had to do (Win XP, IE6). It may be my system configuration.

Little by little, new great sounds enrich the sample page.
Yesterday (19th of June), Yannick Marchegay brang to Myriad many of his instruments, and we recorded them. The first of them to be completed is the bagpipe (sampled from a Gallician bagpipe). The result is quite impressive. 
I am currently adjusting the other sounds, and will upload demos ASAP.
Mark Strange sent today great recordings of his electric bass. Compare them to the sounds in the previous database : the new ones sound much, much more natural !

I had thinking what share with all you, i dont have really good instruments, only a vertical german piano.
Are you interested in recorder samples? I have soprano, alto and tenor recorders, yamaha. I have made my own soundfont before and sound more real than other recorders that i have heard.

Anyway, getting twice the same instrument is not a problem.
If the two sounds are very similar, we will choose (maybe through a vote) the best one, and if they are different, because for example another way of "attacking" note, they they can be both included.
So, I am interested in all your instruments, including the alto recorder

I just heard your "RAW electrical Guitar" on the demo page.
And I am not that impressed. (nor am I impressed with the other available guitar samples)
-I think the problem lies in the fact, that the sound of a certain guitarstring is very different from another. That is: The low E string has a completely different tone than eg. the g string. This difference has nothing to do with the pitch of the tone, but has to do with the material and thickness of the string.
To come up with a more "complete guitar" sound it might be needed to make at least 6 samples. (One for each string). When implemented , the software should then be able to recognize which sample to use based on a rule saying "Deepest possible string".
Is this approach possible ??

At present, each new instrument is made of at least 10 to 12 different samples.
This means each string of a guitar is sampled several times, and the right sample is used according to the pitch of the note to be played.
Therefore, each time a note is played, it uses a sample of a string that *could* play it.
BTW I do not agree with you about the quality of the new guitars. Nylon guitar still need some work, I agree, but we are working with Mr Nappert to improve this, and we are on the right way.
About Folk and electric guitar sound, I consider them as quite realistic. The electric guitar sounds like... a Gibson, when no effect processor is plugged.
