Title: More Mac concerns
Post by lsantow on Jul 2nd, 2011, 10:53pm
I just installed Mac OS 10.6.7. Galerie won't function. When I drag files intp the app to generate a gallery, I get this alert message:

Apple Script Error
sort: open failed: +1: No such file or directory (2)

Does anybody know a workaround? :-/

No need to ask the same question twice.
Also, a search of the forum would have provided the answer.

This problem with Galerie exists since Leopard (MacOSX 10.5). It happens when there are spaces in the path to the dragged files. If I remember well, the problem only exists with dragging files, not with using a selection in iPhoto.

The problem is solved in a beta version that you can download here: http://www.myriad-online.com/mac/Galerie.zip
You can use that beta with the files provided with the latest release version.

(Note that development of Galerie has stopped and that possible problems with future MacOSX versions may never be solved.)

Hello

Not sure whether to start another thread here or just carry on this one!!
I just want to enter a plea for Galerie to continue evolving even if it does not morph into a fancy Web2.0, fully transparent monster.
Since Myriad announced reduced support, I have tried a number of things like Xalbum or whatever but none offer to me the same combination of ease of use, integration with MacOS features and just pure features like being able to pick up photo captions in iphoto library.
My main use is quite non-professional, since it involves posting galleries of family events or sailing trips to friends and other members of family.
Until now I have staggered along with the limitations as Apple breaks features used by Gallery but today Ihave discovered that my trusty modified periwinkle template cannot show Exifs any more. Exposure and aperture are the two absolutely basic parameters that should be shared and I cannot even get these any more. Sigh.

My programming expertise is limited to 80s Fortran work and although I have done the hello world tutorials for a variety of more recent things, and can cope with bash if pushed, in no way can I claim to be a programmer but even so I have to asked, have you ever considered putting Galerie source code in the public domain? I am sure there would be a few Mac dinosaurs ready to have a crack at making it work again.

Having said that, Harmony is one of my favorite apps so maybe the focus should continue to be kept there!!
