In order to decide for which image browsers we will continue support in future versions of Galerie, we need to know which image browsers are actually used by Galerie users. Please let us know which image browser you use. If you prefer a image browser that is not supported by Galerie and if you would like Galerie to support it, please post your request in a reply in this topic.

iView MediaPro will be discontinued? From what I understand the software will not be discontinued, but will be developed further under a different name: "Microsoft Corp. acquired iView Multimedia Ltd. in June 2006 and is continuing to develop this powerful cross-platform cataloging tool into a next-generation product named Microsoft® Expression® Media, scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2007."

Like the earlier message from Weaver, my problem is related to but not quite on the subject. So do please excuse me. I'm in the process of abandoning iPhoto: I find the search facilities too crude, iPhoto slows down when you have a large library (and breaking up into several libraries makes searching even more difficult) and I'm not sure it is really suitable following my recent switch to photographs in RAW. This is my thoughts on revised work management: 1. download photos (but no longer direct into iPhoto) 2. use Photoshop to add date to start of filenames 3. process photos which I want to print or put on web, initially saving as tiff files (in another folder - I have folders organised by year/date) 4. add metadata to tiff files 5. archive RAW folder (and delete from main disk) 6. add to iPhoto ones I want to put on web in order to use Galerie (which I love) This is where the problems start, because I have to a. add comments in iPhoto (I dont think it imports from Description in Photoshop) b. even if I dont modify my tiff or psd files, I have created a duplicate file, compounding my storage problems. Am I right in thinking that it would be impossible for you to make Galerie work direct from a Photoshop tagged folder? If I continue to use iPhoto (cant afford to buy other organisers such as iView or Aperture) is there a better workflow? Frances

You can try GraphicConverter as image browser with Galerie and see how it reads the descriptions added in PhotoShop.

| Thank you for this helpful suggestion. I've downloaded GraphicConverter (it must be ten years since I last used it - it has come a long way) and it looks a possibility. The only thing is, 'description' in Photoshop is 'caption' in GraphicConverter and (I think) 'comment' in Galerie - except I cant get Galerie to display 'comment' on the web page (I could when it was Galerie was working on an iPhoto album. I wonder if I am doing something wrong. I dont really want to add comments in GC or Galerie as well as in Photoshop (since subsequent searches on keywords and IPTC data will be through photoshop).

I do not use Photoshop, so I do not know if 'Description' in Photoshop is 'Caption' in GraphicConverter, but the IPTC field 'Caption' in GC is used in Galerie as 'Comment'. What image format did you use? I think this will only work with JPEG files. See Galerie manual for more information. (If you have further questions, please start a new topic. This topic is for investigating which image browsers are used by our users, not for help questions.)

Lightroom, and it would be wonderful to see Galerie supports it. By the way, great program, congratulations.

Aperture export and pick up in iView for sorting via keywords. Would love an export from Aperture to get rid of the extra steps. So my vote is APERTURE!!!

I don't know whether it's too late to vote, but I just started using Lightroom and will probably continue to use it in preference to iPhoto, because Lightroom lets me keep track of photos that aren't all on the same hard drive. So my vote is for Lightroom.
