Keywords in webpages.

It would be great if Galerie had an option to include iPhoto keywords with pictures on the webpage, the same way it now includes options for title, comments, dates, and EXIF data.

Hi,
I analysed this and there is no major technical problems to do this :
1- I can extract the keyword name(s) from the photo.
2- This will need to add a new tag in each template page, like $KEYWORDS$, after $EXIF$ for example, in index and page template.
3- More annoying, there is not enough place in the main dialog box to add "Add keywords", so the only solution I see is to reduce the checkboxes size (Add title, add comment, add exif...) to "medium", in seven language.
As you can see, it is possible but need a lot of work.
If other people are interested by this option, we will implemented it, just drop a line in this topic.

For us to decide the usefulness of such a new feature, maybe you could explain in what way you would like to use the keywords on the web page. I myself do not use the keywords (yet), but as I understand it, they are meant to assign one or more categories to a picture to enable searching for pictures in a certain category regardless roll or album. In what way would you like to use the keywords on the web page?

There are a few reasons I'd like to include keywords in web pages.
The most important to me is that I restore old pictures on the computer. I have made a set of keywords that each indicate a process I used in the restoration, and I assign each process I used to each picture I used it on. I would like it to be possible to quickly add these pictures to a website including the notes on how I touched them up. I would just put this information in an already existing text field, like "comment," except the keyword functionality of quickly batch assigning keywords, and being able to quickly assign any arbitrary set of keywords to one picture, is much better.
Additionally, for regular usage, I add keywords like "family," "vacation," "Christmas," etc. to my pictures so I can quickly sort and organize them. If these words were listed under the pictures, it would be easy to add a "search in site" feature to my web page, and then people could find my pictures by keyword the same way I can. I mean, they still couldn't make live-updating albums of them like I can in iPhoto, but at least they could find them one at a time.

I also thought I'd add that, aside from searching, keywords would help to extend the title information in many of my pictures. I may name a whole batch of pictures "Christmas 1998" for the title. Then an individual picture in that batch may have the keywords "Bill," "Kate," "Christmas," and "Favorite" assigned to it. Again, I could go through and title all my pictures individually with all this information, but I prefer the keyword system. If Galerie showed keywords, then when I use it to make a webpage, the pictures would already include all this additional information I have assigned, and some family members and friends might not otherwise recognize Bill & Kate.

I suppose, if I were comming up with an ideal system for displaying keyowrds, I'd have an option button (in preferences) for whether or not to put an identifier like "Picture Keywords:" in front of the actual words, then layout the words in a small HTML table under the picture. Although it would probably be easier to just put them in a list seperated with commas, and this seems like a good option too.
Note, I wouldn't want you to go to all this work unless someone else was interested too, or you think it would be a useful feature to add.

Hi,
I think now I perfectly understood your request.
All features asked by users are stored in our archive and, when there is several times the same request, we analyse it deeper.
For the moment, only one person had asked the same request, I contacted him again and asked him to go to this forum and put his opinion.
Personnaly, I never used keywords in iPhoto.
