Improved voices for choral music

I have realised that voices offered by Virtual Singer as default for choral music do not sound very natural. And I believe that most users of VS do not bother to edit these voices in order to obtain better results. I have been using VS for many years and I think I’ve been able to edit these voices to get a reasonable similarity with real choir singers. Therefore, I am suggesting VS users to evaluate these voices to check if they suit better for choral music. I honestly think that they can contribute to improve the sound of the VS choral scores. As this forum does not allow to attach more that one file, I can send you by e-mail these voices. My e-mail address is in my profile page.

That's a great idea. I think that somewhere on this forum a few other attempts have been made on choral voices. How about asking Myriad to include new voices in this page after the team's trial and agreement.

I did about one month ago, but I get no reply. That's why I decided to send the idea in the forum.

Eduardo, You could compress all the files into a single zip and attach that to a post.

André let me know that I can compress all the files into a single zip and attach it that to a post. So I'am sending the 4 voices (S, A, T, B) in a single zip file. I would like some feedback, please...

-Hello Eduardo, I made a first comparison with a German one-voice piece I'm currently working on, later on this week I'll try with a Latin-English SATB work. I was using till now some voices, which are smoother than the original "Classical" ones, but I totally forgot which was their origin. Yours look even smoother, it seems great. For German, I had to retrofit a few corrections/changes to a couple of fragments, which are critical for a good German pronunciation. By the way, I wonder why the changes to fragments are in the same files as the "voice quality" changes. The fragment improvements are l(largeny, at least) independent from teh voice quality, and do not need to be specific for the 4 voices.

Hello, Andre_B. Thank for your reply. The changes that I made in the default classical voices were done by ‘trial and error’, changing the default settings of every voice. I mostly reduced the ‘pitch attack’ and the depth of the vibrato, although I made some other changes that I don’t remember. Reducing the ‘pitch attack’ seems to improve a lot each voice. The voices that I sent are kind of `multi purpose’ for different styles, but I usually increase a little bit the vibrato in some pieces. And a reverb of 12 to 14 makes wonders...

¡Muchas gracias Eduardo!.

¡Saludos!
