Windows 10 Partitions   Partitioning.png

"Floppy disc" drives are no longer supported;  consequently, A: and B: are no longer reserved as labels for these drives.

We can now use them as labels for disc partitions; I have created partitions Audio (A:) for .mp3 and .wav files (instead of Myriad Documents > Export > Music Export) and Backup (B:)

To create/format/label a partition, right-click on the Windows logo (Start icon) and then Disk Management to see the disk partitioning (as below) and then press F1.

Score + Forum, side-by-side on screen

 Open your Score.
Press the Windows key + Left arrow

    Help > Go to BBS
Press the Windows key + Right arrow

Click the square Restore icon at the top-right of the HA window to restore your score to full-screen.

As is the case with Harmony Assistant, Windows has too many short-cuts to remember!
Two easily-remembered and useful short-cuts are:

Windows key + E  = Open File Explorer
 Windows key + D =  View Desktop
Click the Harmony Assistant icon at the bottom of the screen to restore a Score

Thanks for this useful hint, Tony. The zone of the taskbar to click to get the desktop is far too small, and does not show anything.

Btw, Pressing Windows key + D a second time returns to the previous screen.

Backup your HA Set-up   Copy_preferences.png

Backup your HA customisation! It is so demoralising to lose years' of customisation because of a disc crash/corruption/new computer/new operating sytem !!!
(Your registration codes for Hamony, Virtual Singer and MyrSynth (H.Q.) will also be saved)

In Harmony Assistant click on  Help > Open "Myriad Preferences" folder
A File Explorer window opens, showing the path :

[] > This PC  >  Local Disk (C:)  > Users > {name} >  AppDat  >  Roaming  >  ACAMPREF  > Myriad

[] GMDigit   … (plus many other folders & files).

Type Ctrl-A to select all of these folders & files.
Click on the icon at the top: Copy To > Choose location (at the bottom of the new narrow window) and then copy to a secure folder (i.e. not on drive C:).

Backup your HA Set-Up (part 2)   New_folder_created.png

What! You do not have a Backup Folder ?

Windows allows you to create one during the copy process.

Right-click the New Folder to re-name it (for example, My HA Setup).

Give it a special icon.  ("Keys" are appropriate, since you are saving your registration codes!):
  Right-click the New Folder  > Properties > Customise > Change Icon > {choose an icon} OK  > Apply > OK

Backup your H.A. Set-up (part 3)

If you have Gold Sound:

By default, the folder GMDigit contains almost 1GB of data (provided you have not loaded it elsewhere and reset your Configuration >> Paths).

You would probably not want to make a copy of this - especially if you have the disc!

Select the folders and files to copy manually:

 Click on the MyrScript folder.
 Press the Shift key.
Press the Page Down key, twice
 Copy.

Then go inside the GMDigit folder and manually copy the files other than Gold.sdb

Windows desktop short-cuts   Forum_property_windows.png

A right-click on the Windows desktop allows you to create a new short-cut Icon  (just copy-paste a web address and give it a name).
Double-click the new icon and you get taken to wherever (whether on your disc or on-line).

A right-click on this new Icon, under Properties lets you allocate a key to this shortcut.

Below, you can see that the key-combination Ctrl_Alt_F  takes me directly to the Forum. (Alt Gr_F does the same thing)

Problemo:  If an identical short-cut exists in Harmony Assistant, then the H.A. short-cut will not work; there is "priority to Windows".

(Synopsis pour les francophones: N'utilisez pas les mêmes raccourcis Ctrl+Alt+{lettre} clavier dans Windows que dans Harmony Assistant)

Thanks Tony, for this hint. It sometimes can be useful, but at first glance it will, for a specified html, create an Edge tag and a google selection.

But I might buy it for specific Windows Explorer calls, provided it's flexible to assign the shortcut, not to a keyboard combination,  but to a task bar icon.

Yes it may become annoying when the shortcut is also/already used within HA. Though I understand since keyboard shortcuts work as a bottom-up pile: Windows being the bottom level, a shortcut defined there takes precedence over the ones defined at higher levels.

1. Gather together your Windows 10 installation disks.

2. Chuck them in the nearest garbage bin.

3. Install Linux on your computer.

4. Done!

  • On your desktop or in C:, create a new folder, press enter, it's named by default as "New directory" or something like that
  • Rename it to GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
  • The name of the folder disappear, its icon is changed
  • Open it

In Harmony Assistant, click on Help > Open "Myriad Documents" folder.
If necessary, navigate further to the required folder and single-click it.

In the top-left area of Windows, click on Copy path

In the bottom-left (search) area of Windows, type CMD (return)

After the command prompt (>) type PUSHD {Ctrl_V}  (return)
