Saludos,

In the window where the lyrics for each voice are edited, you can enter [chor:0] into the measure where the singers are supposed to be quiet (and restore the correct number in the measure where they start singing again).

Another option would be to place a dynamic mark in each voice at the spot where the singers are supposed to be quiet, set the velocity to 0 and check the verses in which this dynamic is to take effect.  Then you would need a similar dynamic restoring the velocity to the correct level, operating on the same verses.  In the text window of each dynamic, you can enter something like "v. 3 tacet" and then "v. 3 $X" where the singers start to sing again "$X" then gets replaced by the the dynamic marking ("mp", "ff", etc.).

Thank you for you reply. However I have tried to do your suggestion (enter [chor:0] into the measure and it doesn't work. VS still sing the associated instrument (Aaah)

I think the syntax is [choir:0] with an "i" and not "chor".
However, there is still a small echo in VS. The same issue has just been reported by Oliveira in this post There seems to be something wrong with VS itself.

Alas, "[choir:n]" is the correct syntax.  Thank you for the correction, Bubu!

Here is a sample of how to silence a voice for parrt of a song.  Take a look at the two dynamic markings at the beginning of the "Descant" voice.  "Tacet vv. 1-3" suppresses the la-la-la that otherwise that voice would be singing on those verses (because I omitted giving them lyrics).  Note how it is set to bring the volume of the voice to 0 on the first three verses.  "Ff" is set to have effect only on verse 4.  Normally, I would suppress the printing of the "tacet" dynamic, but I wanted you to be able to find it easily.

Thank you very much PaulL for your comments.
I have checked the score you have attached, and I have found the following interesting issues:
- Still there is a remaining sound (even it is a low volume certaintly) la la la as a backgrund, with tacet 1-3. It is a problem recently stated by Oliveira in another post, and it requires attention by the designers of Virtual Singer Program.
- If you enter the window to edit the singer, you'll see the option "Syllabe sung when no lyric is related to the note". Now it is marked as La-a. Well, please change it to "No syllabe". What happen? Now it is a total silence, but only in the first turn
- It is to say, if you change the lyrics so it is a text only in second turn, and blanc in first, third and fourth turns, and you so stated tacet in 1-3-4 (with the voice edited as stated above: "no syllabe") you will get a total silence in first turn (perfect!) but unfortunately, you will have a background low volume sung voice again in 3rd and 4th turns.
I believe that Virtual Singer Program requires a review in some aspects, being this one of them.
